Standard 4: Instructional Delivery and Management
Physical education teacher candidates use effective communication and pedagogical skills and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning.
I believe every teacher should understand that each student is unique in their own way and posses different styles of learning. Having various instructional methods that reach the needs of all learners is what seperates great teachers from the mediocre. Students learn both via verbal and nonverbal communication. As students can be given thorough direction and instruction verbally, it's also important teachers are aware of their body language when presenting information. When mounts of positive energy are displayed students feed off of it, and become just as enthusiastic about the lesson; opposed to the monotone teacher who just wants to get through the day. Students pick up on a teachers mood concerning the content, and if the instructor isn't engaged in the lesson it'd be difficult for students to be excited about or enjoy the class. To maintain a positive and respectful classroom enviroment rules, routines, and smooth transitions must be used effectively. Modeling expected classroom behaviors and making certain students comprehend will aid in keeping structure and organization in the classroom.
